Compositions
We composed a total of eleven songs, and the last one was going to be an unplugged version of one of the songs that we had composed in 2019. The first version was with drums and guitar, but we did not like the result so much back then, so we decided to try this version in a different way. The truth is that we were having trouble in letting this song aside for sentimental reasons: our little dog Cora would get all excited when she heard the chorus, so this song became very special to us. The problem was that the song was not in agreement with the other ones in the album, so we decided to definitely cut it off. Facing this, it had been decided that our first album would have ten songs, and they were practically ready. It was all on me in that moment, I should listen to each song and make a melody that would measure up to the pretty harmonies made by Márcio. A big challenge for someone who was used to composing in a different way (I lost track of how many songs I have made with a pluck on the strings and a sort of whispered voice), but I was very happy for this opportunity. The melodies began to emerge, some with the lyrics along, and sentence by sentence, I would check if that was a possible construction in English (for situations like these, the internet is a blessing), and I think this was the most tiring part. But it was worth it! We got to mid-June with everything ready. Demo versions recorded, lyrics ready and corrected, and the most important thing: we were very satisfied with the result. The feeling that now it was all real and possible was indescribable, as if it were the first time we were living such a similar situation (both Márcio and I had recorded albums with other bands), but in the end, it was all true, for it had been the first time that we were composing, recording and going through this experience together. The fact that we created an album composed, produced and recorded by only the both of us, and inside our home, is a game changer in our history as musicians, as it has been in the world history and in the music industry in general. From the innovations brought by the internet and the evolution of the music equipment, from the analogic to the digital, all of it became possible. Nowadays, recording an album at home has become a common thing, but twenty years ago, especially for us Brazilians, it would be pretty difficult to imagine such scenery.

Compomos o total de onze músicas, a última seria uma versão formato “violão e voz” de uma das músicas que tínhamos composto em 2019. A primeira versão era com bateria e guitarra, mas não tínhamos gostado do resultado na época, então decidimos tentar essa versão de modo diferente. A verdade é que estávamos com dificuldade em deixar essa música de lado por questões sentimentais: a nossa cachorrinha Cora ficava sempre toda feliz ao ouvir o refrão, então essa música se tornou muito especial para nós. O problema é que também a versão destoava do restante das músicas do disco, então decidimos cortá-la definitivamente. Diante disso, estava decidido, nosso primeiro álbum teria dez músicas, e elas já estavam praticamente prontas. Tudo dependia de mim naquele momento, eu deveria ouvir cada música e fazer uma melodia que estivesse à altura das belas harmonias feitas pelo Márcio. Um grande desafio para quem estava acostumada a compor em um estilo diferente (perdi as contas de quantas músicas tenho com um violão dedilhado e uma voz quase sussurrada), mas eu estava muito feliz por essa oportunidade. As melodias começaram a surgir, algumas já com a letra junto, e, frase por frase, eu verificava se aquela era uma construção possível no inglês (para situações como essa, a internet é uma benção!), acho que essa foi a parte mais cansativa. Mas valeu muito a pena! Chegamos à metade do mês de junho com tudo pronto. Versões demo gravadas, letras prontas e corrigidas, e o mais importante: nós estávamos muito satisfeitos com o resultado. A sensação de que agora tudo era real e possível foi indescritível, como se fosse a primeira vez que vivenciássemos uma situação semelhante (tanto eu quanto o Márcio já havíamos gravado discos com outras bandas), mas, no fim das contas, tudo isso não deixava de ser verdade, pois era a primeira vez que estávamos compondo, gravando e passando por essa experiência juntos. O fato de estarmos criando um disco, composto, produzido e gravado apenas por nós dois, e dentro da nossa própria casa, é um divisor de águas na nossa história como músicos, assim como o foi na história do mundo e da indústria da música em geral. A partir das inovações trazidas pela internet e da evolução dos equipamentos musicais, do analógico ao digital, tudo isso se tornou possível. Hoje em dia gravar um disco dentro da própria casa já se tornou uma prática comum, mas, uns vinte anos atrás, principalmente para nós, brasileiros, seria bem difícil de imaginar tal cenário.
